css - html attribute correct (in terms of standard)? -

I found this weird (syntax) syntax in the source of a website:

  & Lt; Td style & gt; & Lt; / Td>

Should an attribute be placed in HTML element and not defined?

APIIK WebKit will erase everything that is given in " The source is displayed

example:

/ code>.
