I claim that Apple has rejected applications that use vanilla HTTP for authentication.
I am unable to verify this information and Google does not say anything on the subject.

Are there any known cases of any such app on which it has been rejected that it does not use SSL?

Apple does not care about how you handle data transfer security I am a writer who is available for more than a year. The app got some updates, all of which went through the approval process and the app never used HTTPS to sign up.

Apps such as Twitter or Facebook did not use HTTPS in the first years of iOS also. / P>
